As the fear of the coronavirus spreads throughout our society, it is critical to keep your vehicle clean and sanitary. We spend a lot of time in our cars these days, and those of you who carpool, rideshare, take public transportation or use Uber are constantly in contact with others. We’ll go over some basic steps you can take to prevent germs from spreading in your vehicle. We’ll also go over some more drastic measures you can take, which we’d be happy to assist you with.
Let’s start with some basic safety precautions that you and others can take.
First and foremost, wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Use soap and water whenever possible, or hand sanitiser if soap and water are not available.
Avoid touching your face, especially your eyes, nose and mouth. It’s also a good idea to avoid close contact with people who are sick.
When you’re in your car, make sure to keep your hands off of the steering wheel, gear shift, door handles and other surfaces as much as possible. Use disposable gloves or sanitize your hands before and after contact.
Make sure to clean all hard surfaces in your car regularly. Wipe down the steering wheel, gear shift, door handles, armrests, cup holders and any other surfaces that you or your passengers come in contact with. You can use a disinfectant wipe, household cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar.
Be sure to clean all soft surfaces in your car as well, such as the seats, floor mats and carpets. These can be vacuumed or shampooed on a regular basis.
If you share a car with others, be sure to clean it after each use.
If you’re sick, it’s best to stay home. If you must go out in public, wear a face mask and avoid close contact with others. When you get home, take a shower and wash your clothes.
Personal contact should be limited to audible greetings rather than physically touching others.
If you’re using a rideshare service, be sure to sit in the back seat. This will help to limit your exposure to the driver and other passengers.
You may also want to consider investing in a car air purifier. These can help to remove pathogens from the air inside your vehicle.
We hope these tips are helpful. If you have any questions or would like assistance with cleaning your car, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to help you keep your car clean and safe. Thanks for reading!
