The Rustic Artisan, we’ll never claim that we make the finest Sourdough within Melbourne and that we make the most exquisite and delicately appealing Sourdough croissants or amazing baguettes or delicious Sourdough Pizza , adorned with artisanal Salumi ….. Let’s be honest, it happens of the time you are hearing similar claims.
We invite you to taste our breads and tell us your feedback. What we can assure you is that you won’t be able to taste anything else like our Sourdough bread, as the primary base in our bread lies with the growing from Our “own” Sourdough starter. Yes! We don’t start the process by using a commercially-produced Sourdough starter. Instead, we begin by creating our own Sourdough starter by hand using traditional methods. We do not make use of any preservatives or artificial ingredients as well as our bread is made and baked fresh each day. Our bread loafs are created using yeast, flour salt, technique and absolutely nothing else. We follow the established French Sourdough methods of enhancing flavor and our country loaf is made over a period of 48 hours of fermentation. It results in a richness and depth in terms of flavour and Sourdough characteristics. Being a Sourdough artist Lucia can customize breads with designs that are beautiful and meaningful to our clients.
